Muerta Lisa

Muerta Lisa

Muerta Lisa  is my smiling guess at what the “Mona Lisa” would have looked like had Da Vinci been a Goth style painter (or alternatively, Muerta Lisa a ghoulish nod to what Mona Lisa might look like today a few hundred years later).  I wanted my Muerta Lisa to have the enigmatic smile of “Mona Lisa” along with Mona Lisa’s allure and mystique.  This artwork presented many firsts for me – beyond the first skulls, this was also my first play with candles.  I created this artwork with Dios Los Muertos, the Grateful Dead, and Halloween in mind.  The more you look, the more skulls you will find.  It was my hope that Muerta Lisa‘s flowers would make her as pretty and engaging as can be,     Available in Limited Edition prints and more, available at Create.bz.
