Following is an example of how a manufacturer chose to blend Nicole’s poetry together with her art:

Nicole’s poem about Hummingbirds was used with Nicole’s artwork to make an engaging coaster.

The exact wording of the poem used in the coaster above shows how Nicole is inspired by nature’s wonders. This poem reads:

Hummingbird
Zipping by
Colorful imp prancing in the sky
Playing with the wind
Magically you hover near
and I hear
that 70 beats per second sings
A song through your powerful wings

Every blossum catches your eye
With your long bill you drink nectar as you fly
Playing cupid in life’s pollination scheme
Dancing your merry dance to Nature’s theme.

I also do narration – here is an excerpt of my children’s book “Inca Dink, the Great Houndini” that was licensed for digital media:

One of the fabulous things about working on this project is that the book was also narrated also by Dominic Byrne, who is amazing.

Art Exhibitions have included Santa Barbara City Hall, Ventura County Government Center, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Community Memorial Hospital, The Atkinson Gallery (Santa Barbara City College), Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Harvard Smithsonian Observatory, among others (several as the result of curated juried competitions). Nicole was honored for nearly a decade by having her art on continuous exhibit at Santa Barbara City Hall Mayor and Council Offices for almost a decade – from around 2006 until August 2016, encompassing several mayors and city council members over many years. Nicole’s artwork “Voting Booth” was the first thing a visitor to the Santa Barbara Mayor & City Council office would see when entering the office (see the artwork on the square wall). The artwork was accompanied by an explanation of what the art meant:

Nicole has also been interviewed on television for her creative expertise which creates excellent visibility for her licensed products:

The breadth and scope of M. Nicole van Dam licenses covers traditional visual works and 3D works, and has included even an iPhone app and narration. The wonderful narrated iPhone, iPad and iPod app version of Nicole’s children’s book, “Inca Dink, The Great Houndini” – brilliantly narrated by BBC personality Dominic Byrne – is now for sale at the Apple store and works with Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad and iPod. If you search for Inca Dink in the Apple app store you will find it as an iPhone app (which iPhone App can be downloaded onto other Apple devices, such as your iPad). You can also find this fun APP through this link: Inca Dink, The Great Houndini

Commissioning M. Nicole van Dam Works
If you wish Nicole to create a special work using themes/colors of your choosing, you can also commission Nicole to create a work specifically for you. Nicole has created works tailored to special themes, and has often montaged elements that clients wish to see in the work, regardless of how disparate these elements may at first glance seem. Examples of such works follow, including a program book cover for the Santa Barbara Symphony, which required Nicole to montage an angel, the Statue of Liberty, Sparticus, and flaming violins, among other things! Nicole’s creations make a unique way to commemorate that special occasion or family member/pet.

Nicole has been commissioned to create works, such as the works that follow:

“Of Mice and Music” – a handpainted violin commissioned by The Santa Barbara Symphony

“Of Mice and Music” – above – This work is a handpainted violin commissioned by The Santa Barbara Symphony.

More Examples of Commissioned Works by M. Nicole van Dam:

The Santa Barbara Symphony also used Nicole’s fine art for two seasons on their Symphony Program Books, including commissioning the following cover, using themes of their choosing. For this Santa Barbara Symphony program book cover, Nicole montaged elements that the Symphony chose, which were quite disparate: The Symphony asked Nicole to montage an angel, the Statue of Liberty, Sparticus, and flaming violins, among other things, and the result follows:

Violins of Fire

Below is another Example of a Commissioned Work incorporating Themes Chosen by Nicole’s Client, in this case these themes being a red barn, hummingbirds, a rowboat (see lower right corner), even mixing spoons (upper right corner)! Nicole loves the challenge of combining disparate themes.

Below is another example of disparate themes being montaged by Nicole into a meaningful work for the recipient – can you find the sailboat, windmill and classic car in this artwork?

Journeys artwork, montaging in a sailboat, windmill, even a car!

Nicole makes special arrangements and pricing on these commissioned works depending on the terms of the commission (for example, Nicole might reduce the price of the commission in exchange for Nicole retaining the right to create a Limited Edition of the work/ license the work, etc.).

Nicole also creates commissions in pen and ink and pencil.  Following are some examples of these commissioned pieces:
