We had so much fun last night creating phase 1 of our latest project, “The Jammin Jungle,” based on a jungle scene that Nicole outlined for the group to paint. This painting will serve as the background for 3D animals the group will make out of clay next week. Here is a photo of Nicole’s outline, with cookie cutters showing where the 3d animals might be placed:
Next the group came to paint the picture – this time our amazing team was Gillian and Allyson, and they were off to a brave and beautiful start from the very first brush strokes:
The work environment at the lovely new Cancer Resource Center was cosy:
-and the team was hard at work:
With Allyson exhibiting a most impressive daubing technique:
From the very start, Gillian and Allyson worked as a wonderful team:
The joy, zen and beauty of working with color is perhaps best expressed in this closeup – it was almost as if the colors were giving us a hug as we worked:
The team was almost done:
-and then, quite beautifully, finished together:
Success! -and look at the clock behind us – we lost all track of time!
We had lots of laughs, and it was a very special time, thanks to the inspiration and creative spirits of Gillian and Allyson:
-and here is a closeup of the finished result:
Please contact the Cancer Resource Center at 805-652-5459 to join us next time!
Thank you to Nicole and the cancer center for giving me the opportunity to let healing, growth, expression and friendship flow so freely through art, laughter and unity………..I look forward to the next class, I'm ready to mold clay!!……<3
Cheers,
Gillian
