I just received the most FUN email today – I’ve been chosen as one of 5 “Creatives You Should Know” by the Creative Network Blog (sponsored by StudioVox). It’s such an honor – the article is so well written and includes four other wonderful artists. For my part of the article, the author chose to include my new “The Golden Gate” artwork and my fairly recent “Reading on the River Thales” artwork.
For “The Golden Gate” artwork I wanted to capture the picturesque San Francisco city scape along with the watery excitement and beauty that surround the famous Golden Gate Bridge. I lived in San Francisco for a wonderful summer and still visit there with my husband when we get the chance. The Golden Gate is my most recent work, so to have it chosen to be featured in the article is important to me and very meaningful.
The “Reading on the River Thales” artwork is my watery tribute to philosopher Thales of Miletus, whose theory was that all things contain water. Thales predates Aristotle (and was admired by Aristotle). Thales was a true independent thinker and is often considered to be the first to attempt to explain the world around him without reference to mythology. As a result, Thales is sometimes referred to as the father of science and the first true mathematician. Since I admire independent thinkers, and Thales was apparently quite a courageous one, this artwork seems like a fun tribute.
Such fun to have both these artworks selected! Here is a link to this lovely article, and thank you all for your support!
